pretty woman.. i drew her to practice hair which was very complex..i struggled but it came out ok..lots of hours spent but it was worth it. bcz of the size i could't scan it so i took a digital picture..
I am keeping this one, to study her hair details further; but not for that alone. Julia's facial profile is pleasing, but I never realized she has such a long neck. (We can be sure her hairdresser added a lot of "hair falls or extentions" to this intricate hairdo.) I admire your ability to give so many things the third dimensional look on paper, as with Julia's flesh, the bejeweled comb in her hair, her sparkling earring, and those delicate strings of beads edging her dress.
I don't think you need to practise drawing hair anymore. This is just perfect - not ok!! It look so beautiful I really spend a few moment, looking at it, stunned, almost crying. I wish you all the possible success with your talent!
I think you are still young and if you keep drawing you'll improve a lot! Just try to take little more time next time you draw and pay more attention to the details. and for the hair... after putting the basic tones i draw the strands and blend them using tortillions. and add more strands so that the hair has more depth. for the highlights i use rectangular eraser cut in an angle.. using the sharp edge of it i erase out each strands to be highlighted.. if you have any more questions feel free to ask! thanks!
This is a beautiful, beautiful drawing...honestly the best I've seen in a while. I have to ask, I've always wondered how people make white hair like you have on this one. Is there some kind of special eraser you used to make all the white swirls on her hair?
Hi!! thanks a lot for the compliment!! I get the same question about the eraser all the time.. i use the kneeded eraser for the general erasing job. for the fine lines needed to be highlighted i use soft plastic eraser cut in an angle with a knife..you have to make the edge like the blade and with little pressure erase out the lines..try it ! thanks!
the hair is the weak point for everyone right? i know it'a a pain..the fly hair can be done using plastic eraser cut in an angle like a blade...but has to be the soft one..i use Factis brand which says "softer" try it and let me know if u have any further questions! thank you!!
